Body Of Lady Who Jumped From Third Mainland Bridge Not Found – LASEMA

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has issued a situation report regarding a suicide attempt at the third Mainland Bridge by UNILAG Water front involving a lady believed to be a staff of the Department for State Services, DSS.

The lady was said to have alighted from a can following an heated argument with her fiance and jumped into the lagoon from the bridge.

Issuing an update, LASEMA, in a statement, said her body was yet to be found due to the high tide, adding that the agency awaits the victim’s body to surface on its own.

The statement read, “Consequent upon the arrival of the LASEMA Response Team at the incident scene, on Thursday, 10th November, 2022, investigation revealed that a lady in her late thirties (30s) plunged into the Lagos Lagoon.

“Further investigation revealed that the lady alighted from a Uber taxi car on the bridge and plunged into the lagoon.

“The driver of the taxi claimed she was having a heated conversation with her fiance before alighting from the car.

“The LRT, Men of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Officials of the Department of State Service (DSS) collaborated together to search for the victim.

“The Agency’s Marine Team (divers) and officials of Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, conducted search and rescue operation.

“After a thorough search by the LASWA Officials and the Agency’s Marine Team (divers) the victim could not be found due to the high tide of the water, hence, search and rescue operation was suspended temporarily till the body resurfaced.”
