Nigeria’s Bassey To Coordinate Caf Super Cup

Nigeria’s Paul Bassey will serve as the General Coordinator for the 2017 Caf Super Cup match between Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa and Congo DR’s TP Mazembe, following his appointment by the Confederation of African Football.
The game, which is between the winner of last season’s Champions League and that of the Confederation Cup, will come up on Saturday at the Loftus Versfield stadium in Pretoria, South Africa.
Sundowns defeated Egypt’s Zamalek 3-1 on aggregate to lift the Caf Champions League. On the other hand TP Mazambe overcame MO Bejaia of Algeria 5-2 on aggregate to clinch the Caf Confederation Cup.
The two sides will now face off in the Super Cup match to decide the champion of champions and the best team in the continent.

Bassey is a Caf and Fifa Match Commissioner, Caf and Fifa Security Officer, Caf Instructor on Club Licencing and member Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF.
It will be the second time in three years that he will be acting as the General Coordinator in a Caf Super Cup match having previously served in that capacity in 2014.
Bassey is the Chairman of Akwa United Football club, he was the General Coordinator during the second leg of the 2016 Caf Champions League final.
The 25th edition of the annual football event has been slated for Saturday February 18, 2017 at the Loftus Versfeld stadium in Pretoria, South Africa.
