Barcelona ‘Gave Away’ Champions League Semi-Final Spot – Gundogan

Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has lamented his side’s missed opportunity to secure a place in the Champions League semi-finals, describing it as a case of “giving away” the chance.

Despite initially leading 4-2 on aggregate against Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona’s fortunes took a turn following a red card for Ronald Araujo. This pivotal moment paved the way for a remarkable comeback by the French side.

Playing at their temporary home ground, the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Barcelona experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as they witnessed PSG’s resurgence. Goals from Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha were not enough to stave off the relentless attacks from Kylian Mbappe, who scored twice to secure a 6-4 aggregate victory for PSG.

“I am disappointed,” the former Manchester City man told CBS. “Very disappointed actually as we were in such a good position.

“Not just after the first leg, but after the first goal we scored. Everything was in our hands and we just gave it away in the most simple of manners. We just gave it to Paris Saint-Germain and that’s the most disappointing part.”
