Atiku Knocks Tinubu, Shettima for Absence from Nigeria

Former vice president and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023, Atiku Abubakar, has slammed President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for being absent from Nigeria at the same time.

Concise News learnt that Tinubu recently jetted out of Nigeria to the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia for an official visit. He is yet to return from the trips.

On his part, Shettima took a trip to the US to represent Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit hosted by the Corporate Council on Africa. The Vice President will join other political and business leaders across Africa, the United States of America and beyond for the summit featuring high-level dialogues, networking business sessions and the plenary, all scheduled for the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Texas.

However, their absence from the country has drawn reaction from Atiku who wondered if the country is now on autopilot.

He shared on X social media, “I have been inundated by reports of the absence of the president and vice president from the country. It is unprecedented that the two leaders will be absent from the country at the same time, especially now that the nation is faced with daunting challenges. The question that readily comes to mind is who is in charge of government at this point, or is it right to assume that we are on autopilot? -AA.”
