APC Chairman Meets Governors On Sunday

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Adamu Abdullahi, will on Sunday meet with governors of the party in Abuja.

This was disclosed in a flyer tweeted by the party on Friday.

“The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), His Excellency, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, invites State Governors of the Party to an emergency meeting to be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 by 2pm at the (Buhari House) National Secretariat, Abuja,” the statement read.

Though the purpose of the meeting has not been revealed, it may not be unconnected to the cold war between the governors and President Muhammadu Buhari over the naira redesign policy.

While the governors want the President to obey the Supreme Court order for old naira notes to remain as legal tender, Buhari, in a broadcast in Thursday, announced only N200 of the phased out old notes as legal tender.

This led to some governors siding with the Supreme Court by announcing that the old notes remain legal tender till the apex court rules on February 22.
