Outgoing governor of Ondo State Olusegun Mimiko has implored the incoming administration to build on its mother and child health care initiative so as to prevent pregnancy related deaths.

He gave the advice in Akure during the second anniversary of ”Agbebiye,” a scheme aimed at reducing high maternal death rate in the state.

Mimiko affirmed that the initiative would not have been a success without the cooperation of the personnel and stakeholders in the health sector, who helped to make the scheme a success.

He urged the personnel and stakeholders to give the Rotimi Akeredolu incoming government maximum support to sustain his legacies.

He said, ”As God has given us the zeal and commitment to achieve all these feats in the health sector, I pray that God will put in the heart of the incoming government to continue with these good works.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju, said that the Agbebiye Initiative was a “celebration of gains from pains.”

Dr. Adeyanju applauded the outgoing governor for his political will to achieve success in the health sector and other sectors like education, transportation, urban and rural development.
