Adeleke, Sanwo-Olu Discuss Deportation of Youths from Lagos to Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has raised concerns with his counterpart in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, regarding reports of alleged deportations of Osun indigenes from Lagos to various locations in Osun State.

The issue came to light following media claims that luxury buses transported hundreds of youths to Ilesa, reportedly after rounding them up in different parts of Lagos.

In response to these allegations, the Osun State government launched an investigation to ascertain the facts. A statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed that the investigation had indeed verified the claims.

According to the report, multiple eyewitnesses saw the youths being dropped off from luxury buses at several key junctions including Ilesa-Akure Express, Ilesa – Ibodi – Iginla to Ife Express, and others, with the buses believed to be operated by a team from Lagos.

During a dialogue with Sanwo-Olu, Adeleke expressed his dismay at the reported events and stressed the importance of addressing the situation promptly. He urged the Lagos State Governor to thoroughly investigate the matter and to cease such activities if found to be true.

“I spoke with my brother, Governor Sanwoolu on the matter. He too was surprised and he denied ever authorizing any such action.

“Governor Sanwoolu has promised an immediate investigation to unravel the facts of the situation. The Lagos team will update us as quickly as possible.

“I am subsequently directing our security agencies in Osun to mount surveillance in and around Ilesa to track the deported youths and their destinations.

“I will update our people on this development. I urge residents to be calm while the security agencies carry out surveillance,” Governor Adeleke was quoted as saying.
