FG Invites Foreign Airlines To Inspect Kaduna Airport

The Federal Government of Nigeria has invited foreign airline operators to inspect the Kaduna International Airport ahead of the March 8 closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport, Abuja.

The Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, extended the invitation during a meeting with the representatives of the foreign airlines operating in Abuja route on Thursday in Abuja.

He explained that the meeting was aimed at discussing how movement into Kaduna would look like and to also know if there were further requirements to be met before the closure date.

The minister disclosed to the foreign airline operators at the meeting that the ministry plans to invite them in few days time to visit Kaduna airport in order for them to see the level of preparedness of the airport.

Kaduna Airport ready for traffic diversion

He however assured them that the Kaduna airport was fully ready to accommodate traffic diversion from Abuja between March 8 and April 9, when Abuja runway would undergo repair.

He added that most of the concerns raised by some foreign airlines had been addressed, urging them to go to Kaduna and see things for themselves.

An official of the ministry, who pleaded anonymity, told newsmen after the meeting that Ethiopian Airlines had expressed its readiness to operate Kaduna route during the period.
