Scheduled to unfold from September 13th to 18th, 2023, the event will kick off with the African Youth Internet Governance Forum. Subsequently, the program will gain momentum with the Parliamentarian Symposium, slated for September 18th to 19th, 2023. Together, they will deliberate on crucial topics centered on the development, accessibility, and governance of the Internet in Africa.

Structured as a diverse series of sessions encompassing dialogues, workshops, panel discussions, symposia, and roundtables, the forum serves as an inclusive platform that brings together stakeholders from across Africa and international partners. These discussions hold the potential to influence the trajectory of Internet Governance in the region.

Key sessions at the event will delve into themes such as Digital Inclusion and Connectivity, Cyber Security and Data Protection, Digital Rights and Freedom of Expression, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Emerging Technologies, E-Commerce and the Digital Economy, and Data Governance and Trust. Participants will also explore how the 17 Sustainable Development Goals can be integrated with digital literacy and internet access to expedite development in Africa.

AfIGF 2023 will feature distinguished speakers, policymakers, industry experts, and thought leaders, both from Africa and beyond. Drawing upon their expertise and insights, the forum aims to generate actionable recommendations that can inform policymaking, drive investments, and ultimately shape Africa’s digital landscape. This collective effort aspires to pave the way for a more inclusive and prosperous digital future across the continent.
