2025 AFCON Draw to Take Place in Johannesburg

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Thursday that the draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 4. The event will take place at SuperSport studios.

In this draw, 52 countries will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each. These teams will compete in the qualifiers starting in September 2024, vying for a spot in the finals set to be held in Morocco in 2025.

The ceremony will see the presence of selected CAF legends, representatives from the participating teams, and members of the Local Organising Committee for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, among others.

The last edition of AFCON saw Côte d’Ivoire emerge victorious, narrowly defeating Nigeria 2-1 in the final. The upcoming draw is eagerly anticipated as teams across the continent prepare for another round of intense competition.
