200m Eggs Recalled In U.S. Over Food Poisoning

Over 200 million eggs have been recalled in the US for fears of a possible outbreak of salmonella.

Salmonella is a bacterium that adversely affects young children and the elderly, triggering fevers, vomiting and abdominal pain.

The bad batch are been called back voluntarily by Rose Acre Farms of Seymour, Ind., with 22 illnesses have been reported so far, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The eggs were distributed from the farm in Hyde County, North Carolina, and have reached consumers in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia through retail stores and restaurants.

The recall is the largest in the United States since 2010, according to Food Safety News.

It involves eggs with the plant number P-105, with the Julian date range of 011 through 012 printed on either side of the carton or package.

There would be a full refund for all consumers who have purchased the recalled eggs.
