Rwanda Hold Uninspiring Eagles In CHAN Opener

Nigeria began their African Nations Championship on a disappointing note on Monday evening after playing out a 0-0 draw with determined Rwanda.

Despite combining to produce 24 shots between them, the two nations ended the tie at Stade Ibn Batouta, Tangier with points shared between them.

The Super Eagles, who qualified at the expense of Benin Republic, controlled possession for long periods of the game but struggled to convert many clear-cut opportunities.

Sunday Faleye and Rabiu Ali both struck the woodwork for the Eagles but that was the best they could get out a game in which they went in as a strong favourite.
